Mohsen Fayyaz
Senior Researcher
Mohsen Fayyaz is a senior researcher in the Applied Sciences Group (ASG) at Microsoft. His research interests include video understanding, efficient image and video understanding, and multi modal vision and language models, among others.
He did his Ph.D. at the University of Bonn, within the computer vision group working with Prof. Dr. Jürgen Gall. During his Ph.D. he did an industrial research sabbatical (internship) at Bosch Center for Artificial Intelligence and another research internship at Microsoft. Mohsen is one of the co-organizers and one of the three program chairs of the Third International Workshop on Holistic Video Understanding at CVPR 2022. He also co-organized the CVPR 2021 workshop, ICCV 2021 and CVPR 2020 Tutorial on Holistic Video Understanding, as well as the First International Workshop on Holistic Video Understanding at ICCV 2019.
Before beginning his Ph.D. and from April, 2016, to October, 2017, he was the research-and-development engineer with Sensifai, a leading European start-up in the area of machine learning and computer vision. His current areas of research interest include action recognition, action segmentation, future video prediction, and efficient video understanding. He has a passion for cutting-edge A.I.-based technologies, with a solution-oriented mindset and an attitude for thinking outside the box.
Mohsen loves cooking, reading, socializing in multicultural spaces, and spending time in nature.
