Tristan Sylvain
Research Intern (2021)


Tristan is a 2021 research intern in the Applied Sciences Group (ASG) at Microsoft, where he is working on visual reasoning and visual question-answering topics.
He is finishing his Ph.D. at Mila (University of Montreal) supervised by professors Yoshua Bengio and Devon Hjelm. His research focuses on generalization in complex visual tasks: notably scene understanding, scene generation, and zero-shot learning. He also has a strong interest in A.I. for good, having worked in the past on survival analysis for organ transplant, and in recent years has helped organize a series of A.I.-for-social-good workshops at ICLR, ICML, and NeurIPS.
