Shiqi is a 2021 research intern in Microsoft’s Applied Sciences Group (ASG) working on pruning and accelerating machine learning models in real-life vision tasks.

He is a Ph.D. candidate at Columbia University, advised by Professor Suman Jana.  He also received his M.S. and M.Phil. in computer science from Columbia University.

He previously interned with Baidu X-Lab at Baidu USA in 2019 and IBM Research in 2020, mostly working on model optimizations and reliability analysis.

Shiqi’s research interest is focused on neural network optimization, compression, and reliability analysis, aiming to make neural-network applications more efficient and reliable.  Many of his papers about neural-network pruning and reliability analysis have been published at leading machine-learning and security conferences.
