Ramón Argüelles-García is a principal software engineer in the Applied Sciences Group (ASG) who is leading work on novel software experiences.

Before joining ASG in 2024, Ramón worked on a range of technical and leadership roles across several teams in Microsoft since 2002, including the version of Windows that became Vista , an end-to-end client-service stack for sharing photo albums, Messenger Sharing, a predecessor to Windows Live Sync and Windows Mesh, Engineering Services for Windows Live/Services division, a short stint in OneDrive, and finally Mixed Reality (HoloLens 1, HoloLens 2, Mixed Reality Azure Services, and mixed reality mapping functionality).

Ramón holds a bachelor's degree in software engineering and a master’s degree in computer graphics.

Outside of work, Ramón enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, camping, playing chess, paper folding, cooking, video games, reading sci-fi and fantasy, good food and wine and beer, and, most of all, board games (top 10 in no specific order: RoboRally, Scythe, Clank!, Res Arcana, Dominion: Prosperity, Century Spice Road, Catan: Cities & Knights, Ark Nova, Pipeline, Space Base).
