Marcelo is a third-year Ph.D. student at the University of Oxford focusing on quantization of neural networks for quick inference. Before this he pursued his master-of-engineering degree, also at Oxford, and did research on 3D reconstruction using lidar data from a four-legged robot.
His research has sought ways to run neural-network models faster and using less memory by using low-bit quantization training (less than eight bits) of convolutional neural networks aimed at custom hardware.
During his free time Marcelo enjoys playing football (soccer) and playing the guitar.
