Hocine Merabti is a 2019 research intern with the Applied Sciences Group (ASG).

He received a state engineering degree in electronics from the University of Sciences and Technology Houari Boumediene (USTHB), Algiers, Algeria, in 2009, followed by an M.Sc.A. degree with excellence in electrical engineering from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, in 2014.  He is now working on his Ph.D., also at UQTR; his thesis concerns improving the performance of non-linear acoustic echo cancellers.

Hocine has also worked on audio projects with Simaudio, Ltd., in Montreal and interned at Klippel GmbH in Germany.  He is the author of several conference papers, and a regular reviewer for journals and conference proceedings.  His research interests include audio signal processing, optimization, hardware and VLSI design.

In his free time, Hocine loves to play soccer and foosball, and enjoys jogging and kayaking.
